Crew 2 signs former U.S. U-17 defender Tristan Weber

Columbus Crew 2 today announced that it has signed former U.S. U-17 defender Tristan Weber to an MLS NEXT Pro professional contract on a free transfer from the Charleston Battery of the USL Championship. The contract is pending league and federation approval. Terms were not disclosed.

The 22-year-old Weber joins Crew 2 after spending the first half of the 2022 season with Charleston, where he made 12 appearances for the Battery across all competitions. Previously, the California native spent the 2021 USL Championship season with Las Vegas Lights FC, making 13 appearances.

At the collegiate level, the defender appeared in 28 matches for San Diego State University from 2019-2021. Prior to his time with San Diego State, Weber played for the University of Portland helping the team reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2018.

At the international level, Weber was part of the U.S. Soccer Under-17 Residency Program from 2016-2017. 

Crew 2 currently sits atop the MLS NEXT Pro standings, boasting a record of 12-2-2. The Black & Gold return to action in a road contest against Philadelphia Union II at Subaru Park on Sunday, July 31 (7:00 p.m. ET / MLSNEXTPro.com).
